Glass & Mirrors

We provide glass and mirrors cut to your measurements to glaze and re-glaze picture frames, mirrors, windows and other home decor projects, as well as for glass panels for balconies, shower screens, staircase balustrades and stairwells.

Here is a guide to what type of glass or mirrors you’ll need for your project, but we are on hand to guide you if you need help.

Types available

Picture glass

We recommend 2mm clear and non-reflective glass for pictures. If you have a picture with broken glass, bring it in and we’ll re-glaze it for you.

Windows

We can provide glazing for windows, including casement and sashes. We recommend 4mm glass for windows and also supply a range of double-glazed units and we hold 3mm glass, ideal for Georgian sash windows. A limited fitting service is available. (We are not able to offer emergency glass replacement services.)

Mirrors

We supply mirrors cut to your size, in thicknesses of 4mm or 6mm. The 4mm mirror is ideal for framing and can be fitted to doors when the edges are polished edges. The slightly thicker 6mm mirror is best for bathrooms because it matches the thickness of most standard bathroom tiles.

Toughed glass

Toughened safety is best for those jobs that need extra strength or security. These could be commercial windows, ground-floor doors and windows, or small shelves and tabletops (with polished edges).

We provide 6.4mm laminated glass and wired glass. If you’re not sure what you need, just ask!

Greenhouse glass

For your greenhouses and sheds, we recommend horticultural glass, which comes in 3mm thick pre-cut sheets, sized 610 x 610 mm, or 24 x 24 inches if you prefer old money!

We also supply Dutch lights in dimensions of 720 x 1422mm (28 3/8 x 56 inches.

Measuring top tip

We are happy to accept measurements in metric or imperial, whichever you’re comfortable with, but remember, always measure twice and then check again. It will save you time and money.

The Upcycling Story of a drum

One of our clients has been having fun, furnishing her characterful weekend cottage in one of the higgledy-piggledy streets of Deal’s conservation area.

They discovered an old Royal Marines drum - from the days when the regiment’s School of Music was based in Deal - and decided that with a glass top, it would make a fabulous occasional table.

We made the conversion by cutting and installing a piece of toughened glass to fit but with a suitable overhang, to provide a level and wipeable surface.

“We are delighted with how the drum turned out. We had no idea how to fix the glass to the drum, but luckily Sandy did. It makes a great table - no coasters required!”
